WHAT TO EXPECT IN ANTALYA
Dear colleagues and friends,
Our Turkish friends TÜFAD (Turkish Football Coaches Association), long-time member since the AEFCA and its precursor organisation, the UEFT, was established is going to host the 32nd Symposium. The City of Antalya will be the home of the organisation.
Obviously, Turkish football will be given centre stage as high-profile delegates of the coaching profession explain its rapid development over the last few years. Renowned and successful football managers from Turkey will participate as panelists and speakers, as well as senior representatives of the TFF technical/coach education departments are expected to feature among the presenters, both indoors and outdoors.
Attendees from Europe and overseas will number around 150 people and can look forward to a varied and highly topical programme of events under the motto of
"Football Development - Today & Tomorrow"
Once again, the list of keynote speakers will include UEFA's Technical Director Andy Roxburgh, whose presentation entitled "The Barça Benchmark - the demands of top-level football" promises to provide us with a glimpse of football in another dimension.
2011 stands out for the great number of major tournaments at European and indeed global level, so Peter Rudbæk, Technical Director of the Danish FA (DBU) will look back on the UEFA U21 Championship in Denmark, while his Austrian FA (ÖFB) counterpart, Willi Ruttensteiner, will share his analysis of two FIFA World Cups - the U17 edition in Mexico, and the U20 event in Colombia.
As regards the women's game, the FIFA Women's World Cup Germany 2011 was no doubt the outstanding occasion, and we will be privileged to welcome two acclaimed women's national team coaches in Vera Pauw (Russia) and Pia Sundhage, whose Team USA lost only to Japan in the final.
Have you always wanted to improve at "Defending dead-ball situations"? Then check out what the DFB's head of Goalkeeper Coach Education, Jörg Daniel, has to say on the matter. A former top goalie himself with loads of experience at the highest level, he wants attendees to engage in lively debate about his findings. For further details on the Symposium schedule, visit the AEFCA website from time to time for updates.
The programme will be rounded off with an excursion to Antalya and its environs steeped in history.
In summary, there are reasons galore for you not to miss out on the 32nd AEFCA Symposium. We look forward to meeting you in (hopefully sunny) Antalya from 19 November 2011.
